Paya
Recently
introduced Paya (with my own variations) to my daughter
Ingredients:
Goat trotters: 4 pieces
Beet root: One
Capsicum: One
Carrot: One
Onion: 4 big
Tomato: One
Garlic-ginger paste: 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds: ½ tbsp
Garam masala: 1 tbsp.
Red chili powder: ¼ tbsp
Salt to taste
Method:
1.Wash the
trotters carefully in running water. Marinate
it with ¼ tbsp chili powder, ¼ tbsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp ginger-garlic
paste and salt and keep it in the fridge for two hours.
2. Heat
mustard oil 2 tbsp (optional) in a cooker, add cumin and onions and fry well.
Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder and washed paya. Fry
well for 15- 20 mins. Add salt.
3. Add
finely chopped beet root, carrot and capsicum, tomato and fry them for
five minutes, add garam masala and cook it for two minutes.
4. Add 1
liter of water. After 2 whistles, lower the flame and cook for about 1 hour.
Paya is
ready. Serve it with rice, nan/roti. Garnish with coriander leaves (optional). Enjoy!
